“Soar high and dream high”

Teaching Plan/Final Demo

Before I make preparations for my final demo, I consulted my mentor, Dr. Vanny Tiwow with regards on the topic, light reflection. I showed her my lesson plan and ask her some pieces of advice about interactive activities. She reminded me not to stay long in the lecture instead have some group or individual activities to balance the content and the anticipated outcomes. She made some corrections on my lesson/teaching plan and suggested some strategies such as asking questions to students after they manipulate or describe the materials I prepared. Since my class is good for 50 minutes, the students should have done a group activity to practice learning through collaborations and quick thinking. Also, my cooperative teacher gave me an idea on how to manage the class so well. The students’ attention depends on the voice and the total posture of the teacher. She suggested that as much as possible, I maintain eye contact and loud voice while talking slowly, so that students can keep their pace. Being animated and enthusiastic are the key to engage the students in an interesting activity learning.

It was Monday morning, 28th day of January at 8:30-9:20 a.m., the schedule of my final demo teaching, room 2/2 under the supervision of Aj. Jeerapun Norkaew, a science teacher. I was evaluated by Dr. Suthi since my mentor Dr. Vanny Tiwow was assigned to other school to evaluate my co-SEA teacher intern.

I prepared my learning materials, activities and other resources which is good for fifty minutes. My topic was about light reflection and my mentor, Dr. Vanny Tiwow. Prior to my actual demo she already advised me to focus more on activities rather than lecture because the curriculum of VRU is student-centered.

I gave a copy of my lesson plan and the evaluation form to my evaluator who was seated at the back. I began my lesson since I only have fifty minutes to do what is in my lesson plan. I was not able to use the projector because of technical problem. My laptop was not working as I was about to begin the lesson. I panicked but managed to maintain my composure and continue for I only had few minutes to deliver my lesson.

I was happy to see my evaluator smiling while I was doing my demo in front of the class. It gives me courage to continue and just have fun to overcome nervousness. I used counting strategy to call the attention of the students who are not listening. With this, I was confident to control and manage the students in class well. I allowed them to solve problems on the board by calling them randomly. I gave activity sheet to the students right after the discussion not to waste time. Before we could hear the bell rang, I already finished my group activity which was a big relief. I and Dr. Suthi talked about his verdict right after we exited the class. We stayed at the first floor and took picture together. It was fulfilling after I heard the feedback of evaluator. Though, I had some lapses, I know it was all worth it and will strive to become better and successful.

After that I knew, the key to success is how you open your heart and mind towards change. It could be your best or worst. Never complain about hearing negative comments from anyone. Don’t take it negatively but make it a driving force to improve and to excel. Keep your feet on the ground because I believed we’re still learning. We may know a lot of things but we still need others to develop our strengths and overcome weaknesses. This was the best reminder I have learned all throughout my internship. Learn with a heart and put a lot of hardwork, in the end you’ll reap all the fruits of success.

Teaching Plan

Prepared by: Jean Jean M. Maduay

Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University Under the Royal Patronage Demonstration School

Topic: Light Reflection Classroom Supervisor: T. Jeerapun Norkaew

Grade Level: 2/2 Time Allotment: 50 minutes

Date: January28,2019 Time Schedule: 8:30-9:20

I. Objectives:

At the end of fifty minutes, the students will be able to:

1. Explain light reflection in the plane mirror.

2. State the law of reflection.

3. Draw the direction of the light rays from the reflected object.

3. Identify the image formed in the plane mirror.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Light Reflection

B. References

C. Materials

1. Slide presentation, white board and white board marker and other instructional materials used in the demo teaching.

2. Discuss the law of reflection and demonstrate how the image can be reflected in the plane mirror through the direction of light rays.

D. Skills: Problem solving, speaking and listening

E. Domain of Learning: Cognitive, Psychomotor

III. Procedures

A. Daily Routine

1. Greeting

Students: Good morning teacher!

Teacher: Good morning, everyone! How are you?

: Does anyone feel good today?

: Are you happy to see your classmates smiling?

2. Warming Up

The teacher will allow the students to manipulate the prepared materials on the table and describe their observations.

: What do you notice as you put these things in front of you?

: What makes it possible to see your image?

B. Preparatory Activities

1. Review

The teacher will ask about what do the students know about light.

Teacher: What makes you see things around you?

Students: Light

C. Developmental Activities

1.The teacher will introduce the topic by using slide presentation.

· What is image?

· How image can be formed?

· What is the law of reflection?

· How does the mirror structure affect the resulting image?

2. Students will do the activities about the direction of light rays and the formation of image in the plane mirror.

D. Lesson Proper

Strategy 1

The teacher will explain the light reflection using the slide presentation.

Strategy 2

The teacher will show the steps how the students can distinguish the image formed through the path of light rays.

E. Generalization

The teacher will allow the students to identify direction of light rays.

Ø What types of image is formed?

Ø How does the mirror structure affect the formation of image?

F. Application

MINUE-TO-SHOW-IT!!

The teacher will group the students into 3 groups. They will be given questions flashed on the screen and first group to show the correct answer will be given points.

The teacher will give the students some questions to answer.

A. Direction: Underline the word that is asked in every item.

1) Light travels in (straight, curved, parallel) lines.

2) Light travels (faster, slower, moderate) compared sound.

3) We see things because they (reflect, absorb, refract) light into our eyes.

4) (Virtual images, real images, shadows) are formed in a flat mirror.

5) The incident ray is (equal, different) to the reflected light.

Conclusion:

1. Rays from the reflected object on the plane mirror will form virtual image.

2. The incident line, reflected line, and the normal line are on the same plane.

3. The incident angle and the reflected angle are the same.

4. The image from a plane mirror is a virtual image.

IV. Evaluation and Assessment

A. Worksheet

The students will be given worksheet to do the activity and will be asked to answer the following questions.

1. Illustrate the reflected image of an object and the direction of light rays.

2. What type of image is formed in the flat mirror? State your answer.

3. Determine the distance of an image, as shown in the given illustration.
